On my way back from Tintern I stopped off at the Severn Bridge – the original Severn Bridge, that is – and on the spur of the moment decided to walk along part of it. Something I have always meant to do but never have.

Construction of the bridge started in 1961 and it was opened in 1966. It is actually divided in two parts, The Wye Bridge/Beachley Viaduct over the River Wye and Beachley Peninsular, and the Severn Suspension Bridge over the Severn Estuary.
